I never feel that my songs are autobiographical. I suppose at some level, most things are - even if vague. Even if unknown to the author. This one though, from start to finish is autobiographical. Well, except the title. This Path Sucks is a more striking and forthright name for a song than, I Don't Like Where this is Heading. There is a distinction between not liking where you're going and determining that it sucks.
lyrics
A pill at night, another in the morning
Staving off the creeps of my psyche
Anxiety comes without warning
Pressure in my chest that won’t stop spreading
I chose the road
I chose the path
And still I don’t like where this is heading
Cutting out carbs, intermittent fasting
Fiber and juice, raw raw raw
Carrot stick cheerleader from central casting
It ends with some extra crispy breading
I chose the road
I chose the path
And still I don’t like where this is heading
You kept the boutonniere like a tacky totem
But all the hair dye in Boca Raton
Does nothing for a bulging gut and saggy scrotum
The color is fading and the petals are shedding
I chose the road
I chose the path
And still I don’t like where this is heading
Busy with grief, busy with mourning
In the absence of plans we made plans
You needed support, instead I sent scorning
You got married but I wanted a wedding
I chose the road
I chose the path
And still I don’t like where this is heading
